The development status of China's white cardboard industry in 2019 and the forecast of the demand scale of the white cardboard industry in 2025
release date: Source: China's industrial information
white cardboard uses wood pulp and waste pulp as raw materials, and the demand will recover greatly in 2019. White card paper belongs to packaging paper, which can be divided into social card, food card and cigarette card. Because of its high hardness, white card paper is mostly used for fine packaging in different industries. White cardboard is mainly used in industries closely related to daily consumption, and its downstream demand is concentrated in food, tobacco and alcohol, medicine, clothing and cosmetics industries
I. Development Status of the white cardboard industry
the capacity of the white cardboard industry is gradually shrinking, but it is still facing overcapacity. In 2013, the white cardboard industry carried out a large-scale capacity expansion, increasing from 4.89 million tons in 2012 to 7.19 million tons. In 2016, the capacity exceeded 10million tons, and in 2019, the capacity reached 10.92 million tons. The total demand in 2018 was about 698, and the products sold well at home and abroad 10000 tons, and the total demand in 2019 reached 7.918 million tons, with a year-on-year increase of 13%. If the demand is calculated at 5% CAGR over the past five years, the demand will reach 8.2 million tons in 2020, and the problem of oversupply still exists. However, affected by the epidemic in 2020, the inventory of the industry fell, and the production capacity of the white cardboard industry contracted
in terms of price, the prosperity of the paper industry rebounded in 2017, and the price of white cardboard followed the rise. However, since May 2018, leading enterprises have seized market share, industry competition intensified, superimposed on the impact of the macroeconomic environment, and the price of white cardboard fell rapidly. After a slight correction in July 2018, it fell again in November, falling below 5000/ton in January 2019. After March 2019, the price of white cardboard began to rebound from the bottom, and the gross profit also increased significantly in 2019
white card market price and gross profit space
Research Report on market analysis, prediction and investment direction of China's white card industry released by Zhiyan consulting shows that by the end of 2019, the capacity caliber Cr4 of China's white card industry was 85%, of which app (golden light paper) accounted for 32% and Bohui paper accounted for 20%. After the acquisition of Bohui paper by golden light paper, the total market share of app+ Bohui in the white card industry will reach 52%, the leading position of the industry will be further established, and the concentration of the white card industry will be further improved
with the upgrading of consumption and the elimination of environmental protection capacity, the substitution effect of white paperboard for white paperboard has gradually increased. Both white card paper and white board paper can be used for making cartons. Because white card paper is smooth and has high stiffness, and the surface in contact with the sample adopts sticky soft rubber, which is wear-resistant and waterproof, it has advantages in the field of food packaging, and white card paper can match a variety of printing modes for diversified marketing operations, which is more attractive to enterprises. In recent years, with the upgrading of consumption, the market demand for white cardboard has increased rapidly. The consumption proportion of white cardboard used to manufacture cartons increased significantly from 60% in 2013 to 80% in 2016. At the same time, the import of waste paper as the raw material of recycled white board, with the reduction of solid waste import, the supply of waste paper will decline, which is expected to have a great impact on the production and supply of white board
the apparent consumption of white board is decreasing year by year, and the consumption upgrading is expected to promote the substitution of white board paper for white board paper. Whiteboard is a kind of paperboard with white and smooth front and gray background on the back. The paper surface is relatively white and smooth, with relatively uniform ink absorption, less surface de dusting and hair loss, and the paper is relatively strong and tough with good folding resistance, but its water content is high, generally at 10% left and right, with certain flexibility, which will have a certain impact on printing. Whiteboard is mainly used for making food, drugs, daily chemicals and other packaging cartons for packaging after one-sided color printing, or for design and handicrafts. In 2018, 90% of the whiteboard was used to make cartons, 1 and 0% was used to make lining paper with better corrosion resistance. The apparent consumption of Whiteboard in 2019 was 8095 kilotons, slightly higher than that in 2018, but on the whole, the apparent consumption of whiteboard has shown a downward trend since 2013, and the demand side has been shrinking. White board paper overlaps with white board paper in the field of packaging. However, due to the high water content of white board paper, the printing quality is affected to a certain extent, and there is a small amount of de powdering and hair loss. It is not as good as white board paper with higher stiffness, burst resistance and smoothness in the sense of use. With the upgrading of consumption, white board paper in the fields of food, medicine and daily chemical packaging will be replaced by white board paper
II. Prediction of the demand scale of white cardboard in 2025
according to the national standard "national food safety standard food contact paper and paperboard materials and products", food grade packaging paper must use raw wood pulp as raw material. Food packaging paper completely using raw wood pulp does not have the risk of pollution, can safely contact food, and will not transfer harmful ingredients to food. Therefore, in fact, safety and environmental protection is a need field for its own development in the use of lunch boxes and paper bags in contact with food, and white cardboard is one of the alternative routes. The introduction of the "governance opinions" will, to a certain extent, lead to an increase in the demand for white cardboard. The increase in the use frequency of takeout lunch boxes and retail paper bags will accelerate the rebound in the market price of white cardboard
in 2025, the scale of white cardboard replacing disposable plastic tableware in the catering takeout field is expected to reach 2.34 million tons. It is estimated that the total use of disposable plastic tableware in China will reach 297.2 billion by 2025. As the opinions on further strengthening plastic pollution control limits disposable plastic tableware to non degradable range, it is predicted that the total use of non degradable disposable plastic tableware in China will be 283.6 billion in 2025. In the opinions on Further Strengthening the treatment of plastic pollution, it is proposed that by the end of 2025, the consumption intensity of non degradable disposable plastic tableware in the catering takeaway field in cities above the prefecture level will be reduced by 30%. It is estimated that the demand scale of white cardboard replacing disposable plastic tableware in the catering takeaway field in 2025 will be 2.34 million tons
prediction of the scale of disposable plastic tableware in the field of catering takeaway replaced by white cardboard
the scale of non degradable plastic bags in retail areas such as supermarkets, pharmacies and so on replaced by white cardboard is expected to reach 1.17 million tons in 2025. It is predicted that if the plastic restriction order is not implemented, the total number of plastic bags used in China will reach 1924.5 billion in 2025. As the "opinions on Further Strengthening the treatment of plastic pollution" limits disposable plastic tableware to the non degradable range, it is predicted that under the conditions of the promulgation of the plastic restriction order, the demand scale of non degradable plastic bags in retail areas such as white cardboard replacing supermarkets and pharmacies will be 1.17 million tons in 2025
